DESCRIPTION
When ATF level is low, coming to a quick stop causes air to enter the ATF oil line. This temporarily
reduces line pressure and engages the lock-up clutch. In this condition, the torque converter is unable
to slip and the engine stalls.
Should a customer complain o f engine stalling after a sudden stop, check the following:
1. ATF leakage especially around thermo switch box. (Refer to Service Bulletin Category 7, No. 053/88.)
2. Proper level o f ATF.
3. Correct ATF level gauge (for 1987 vehicles, refer to the parts information below).
