Thermal knife
This consists of a piece of equipment which thermally heats a blade to facilitate cutting the sealant.
It is possible to adjust the temperature of the blade up to 700 °C, but it is advisable to limit the tempera­
ture of the knife in use to around 150°C to avoid burning the sealant and producing harmful fumes. The
knife is equipped with a fume aspiration system.
Different shaped blades are available to suit different cutting conditions.
It is important during cutting that the blade should always be kept perfectly parallel to the window to
prevent excessive force and the risk of breaking the actual window.
