GENERAL

Always turn the ignition switch to "OFP' before servicing the alternator/starter. The a lternator/starter could suddenly

start when the ignition switch is turned to "ON", causing serious injury.
This section covers the removal and installation of the flywheel, alternator/starter and ignition pulse generator.
These services can be done with the engine installed i n the frame.
Refer to page 16-8 for alternator/starter inspection.
