Before ins/ailing the
camshaft. be sure
the cylinder boll
(under the cam
shaft)
is
tightened
securely
(page 11-9).
Make sure the
timing marl< on the
sprocket aligns with
the cylinder surface
when the
-r
mark
is
aligned with the
index marl<
Lubricate the camshaft bearings and cam chain with
engine oil.
Install the camshaft holder plale [1] onto the camshaft
holders, aligning the holes with the dowel pins,
Place the camshaft assembly [2] onto the cylinder and
instalilhe cam chain [3] over the sprocket while aligning
the timing marks (index lines) [4J on Ihe sprocket with
the cylinder lop surface and holder plale edge.
Locate the dowel pins into the holes in Ihe cylinder
securely.
Be sure the timing marks lines up with Ihe cylinder top
surface and holder plate edge
Install the four holder bolts (1} and tighten them.
Apply molybdenum oil solution to the cam lobes and
decompressor cam area.
Remove the tensioner holder, and instalilhe cam chain
tensioner lifter plug [1] with a new sealing washer [21
and tighten it.
Install the cylinder head (page
