7.22 Installing a PCIe Card

This section describes how to install a PCIe card on the riser card and on the
mainboard.
Use
precautions and accessories for installing the GPU card.

7.22.1 Installing a PCIe Card on the Riser Card

Install a PCIe card to replace the original one or add a new PCIe card.
A dedicated PCIe riser card is required for installing a GPU card. If the PCIe riser
card to be installed is not dedicated for GPU cards, contact Huawei to deliver a
dedicated card.
Procedure
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see
Step 2 Remove the PCIe card to be replaced from the riser card. For details, see
Removing a PCIe Card from a Riser
Step 3 Take the spare PCIe card out of its ESD bag.
Step 4 Insert the PCIe card into a PCIe expansion slot. See (1) in
Figure 7-40 Installing a PCIe card on the riser card
Step 5 Close the latch. See (2) in
Step 6 (Optional) Some GPUs need to connect to dedicated power cables. If the PCIe
card is a GPU, select a power cable connection method based on the GPU model.
