IGNITION SYSTEM
IGNITION SYSTEM INSPECTION
If there is no spark present at the plug, check all
connections for loose or poor contact before
measuring the peak voltage.
Use a commercially available digital multimeter
(impedance 10 MWDCV minimum).
The display value differs depending upon the
internal impedance of the multimeter.
If the lmrie diagnostic tester (model 625) is used,
follow the manufacturer's instruction.
Connect the peak voltage adapter
to
the digital mul-
timeter, or use the peak voltage tester.
TOOLS:
lmrie diagnostic tester (model 625) or
with commercially available digital multimeter
(impedance 10
MWDCV
minimum)

IGNITION COIL PRIMARY PEAK
VOLTAGE
Check all system connections before this inspec-
tion. Poor connected connectors can cause incor-
rect readings.
Remove the maintenance lid (page 2-41,
Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
DIGITAL MULTIMETER
PEAK VOLTAGE ADAPTOR
Connect a known-good spark plug to the spark plug
cap and ground
it
to the cylinder as done in a spark
test.
