3.3.3. Disclaimer

This product decreases security risks. NEC does not guarantee the elimination of all of the security risks.
Due to the characteristics of this product, the following events might occur.
This product regularly updates the signature (information on the virus definition, etc.). The signature, in order to

keep the performance of this product, deletes the old pattern that has become a low risk threat when a new
pattern is added. For example, events such as intercepted traffic passes through or the traffic that passed
through is intercepted. Moreover, because the application blocked by APG is deleted from the scanned target, the
traffic of the application will be permitted in this case. In addition, blocking may not be permitted in the
Application Guard (APG) due to specification changes of the application.
This product manages terminal information (such as computers that have been set under the LAN port of this

product), and observes the traffic of each terminal. Therefore, the processing performance of this product might
decrease when the number of terminals increases.

3.3.4. Working with the Server

This product does the following in cooperation with the server.
File Description
License This product's security/scan function license.
When connected to the Internet for the first time, this product accesses
the license server. As a result, the license server will start the
management of this product. (Activation) When the license server starts
the management of this product, this product will be able to receive the
response of signature from various security servers. The status of the
license can be confirmed with the ALERT2 lamp on/off.
OFF: In the security/scan operation
Green lights: Before license check
Orange lights: Before activation
Signature The database used in detecting various threats. For the traffic/file that
passes through this product, it determines whether or not it complies
with the signature and controls it. Signature is used by the following
functions:
Antivirus (AV), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS),
Web Guard (WG),Application Guard (APG)
