Problem
Excessive water in
brine tank
Softener fails to draw
brine
Drain flows
continuously
10.2 Programming error
If reprogramming the unit clears the error, the remaining volume may be reset to full
unit capacity (as if it had just regenerated).
• All the units in service remain in service;
• all the units in standby go to service;
• when the error appears, the unit in regeneration finishes the regeneration and
goes to service;
• no regeneration starts while the error condition remains.
When the programming problem is corrected and the error is no longer displayed (it
may take several seconds for all the units of the system to stop displaying the error),
the system returns to normal operation.
Some examples of programming errors detected are:

Cause
Plugged drain line flow
control.
Plugged injector system.
Controller is not cycling.
Foreign material in brine
valve.
Foreign material in brine line
flow control.
Drain line flow is plugged.
Injector is plugged.
Injector screen is plugged.
Line pressure is too low.
Internal valve leaks.
Cam did not cycle.
Controller is not programming
correctly.
Foreign material in valve body. Remove power head assembly
Internal valve leak.
Solution
Clean flow control.
Clean injector and screen.
Replace controller.
Replace brine valve seat and
clean valve.
Clean brine line flow control.
Clean drain line flow control.
Clean injector.
Clean screen.
Increase line pressure to
1.4 bar.
Change seals, spacers and
piston assembly.
Check drive motor and micro-
switches.
Check controller program and
positioning of controls.
Replace power head assembly
if not positioning properly.
and inspect bore. Remove
foreign material and check
valve body in various
regeneration positions.
Replace seals and piston
assembly.
