Installing the Avaya™ S8700
Media Server with Avaya™
MCC1 or SCC1 Media Gateway
These procedures are for installing a new Avaya™ S8700 Media Server with Avaya™ MCC1
or SCC1 Media Gateway, hereafter referred to as the S8700 Multi-Connect configuration. As
part of the procedures for configuring the various pieces of hardware, you use 2 administration
interfaces: the Maintenance Web Interface and a command line interface using either Telnet or a
terminal emulation application.
We recommend that you have the following documents on hand for the installation. These are
included on the Avaya™ S8300 and Avaya™ S8700 Media Server Library CD (555-233-824).
Getting Started with the Avaya™ S8700 Media Server with an Avaya™ MCC1 and SCC1
Media Gateway (555-233-141)—a quick reference guide providing physical installation
and connection information.
Filled out Pre-Installation Network Planning Forms—Avaya™ S8700 Media
Server—job aid providing the customer's network information needed to configure the
control network components and other IP components. Get from the Avaya project
manager, Avaya software technician, or customer network administrator.
Pre-Installation Information—Avaya™ S8700 Media Server—job aid providing lists of
required hardware, computer hardware and software specifications, and PC network
configuration to access the media server. Available on the Avaya S8300 and S8700 Media
Server Library CD.
Installing the Avaya™ S8700 Media Server with an Avaya™ MCC1 or SCC1 Media
Gateway—part of the HTML library providing information on configuring the control
network components, installing the MCC1 or SCC1 Media Gateways and telephones,
testing, and troubleshooting.
