Example
Example 1: Create a volume on disk Disk_1 of disk group dg_01, and ensure that the size of the
volume is the same as that of disk Disk_1. Do as follows:
1.
Issue 06 (2010-05-10)
shrink the volume to the size that is smaller than the size of the file system or database that
uses the volume.
You can shrink a volume to the specified length by running the command vxassist
[options] [-f] shrinkto -g diskgroup volume newlength [attribute...].
You can delete a snapshot mirroring from a volume by running the command vxassist
[options] snapabort volume. If you specify a volume group name instead of a volume name,
the mirroring of each volume in the volume group is deleted.
You can synchronize the snapshot volume with the original volume by running the
command vxassist [options] snapback snapvolume.
You can disconnect a snapshot volume from its original volume permanently by running
the command vxassist [options] snapclear volume [snap_object]. After that, the snapshot
volume is an independent volume.
You can view the connection between an original volume and its snapshot volume by
running the command vxassist [options] snapprint [volume].
You can create a snapshot mirroring by running the command vxassist [options]
snapshot volume [snapvolume] [attribute...]. If the creation is interrupted, the snapshot
mirroring is deleted when the volume is started.
You can create a write-only snapshot mirroring by running the command vxassist
[options] [-b] snapstart [nmirror=number] volume [attribute...]. The snapshot mirroring
is mounted to the volume for backup and synchronized with the volume. If the command
is not run on daemon, that is, the value of the –b parameter is not specified, you are logged
out of the command only when the synchronization between the mirroring and the volume
is complete.
You can wait for mirroring creation by running the command vxassist [options]
snapwait volume. If you use the –b parameter to run the command vxassist snapstart on
daemon when creating a snapshot, you can use the command vxassist snapwait.
CAUTION
In the VIS6000, the size of a new volume must be less than or equal to 256 TB.
The VIS6000 supports up to 128 volumes.
The VIS6000 manages up to 2048 volumes.
The VIS6000 supports up to 128 split snapshots.
View the size of disk Disk_1 by running the command vxdg -g diskgroup free.
