OceanStor VIS6000 Series Virtual Intelligent Storage
Value
The base-minor number of an
object (such as a volume,
disk, or disk group) is
assigned by the VIS6000 and
identifies a feature of the
object. You are
recommended to assign a
unique base-minor number
range for each disk group to
avoid conflicts.
The number ranges from the
base_minor to 131071. You
are recommended to keep
certain greatest base_minor
numbers unassigned. In this
way, you can remap a device
number temporarily in case
of base_minor number
conflicts. In the VIS6000, the
base_minor numbers ranging
from 0 to 999 are reserved for
the volumes of disk groups.
For example, you must assign
base_minor number 0 to
volume rootvol.
If the first number of the
base_minor number range of
the disk group is not
specified, the VIS6000 picks
one number randomly. The
smallest number is 1000. The
number must be a multiple of
1000 and in an available
range corresponding to actual
number of devices. The
chosen number must be out
of any number range of
imported disk groups
(including 1000 numbers)
and different from any
assigned volume device
number.
