Important:
When installing, use a new nut.
Tighten the fork bridge (3) mounting on the frame
with a socket wrench and internal hexagon,
BMW No. 31 5 600.

Fixed fork tube (2) must be flush with the upper
edge of handlebar holder (1) (arrow).

Tighten fasteners of left and right handlebar
holders (5) in fork bridge (6).
Tighten left and right fork bridge clamps (4).

Important:
Install screw (3) with Loctite 243.
Tighten left and right handlebar holder
clamps (3).

Fork bridge to frame
(clean thread + apply Loctite 2701) ............ 130 Nm
Handlebar holder to fork bridge...................... 9 Nm
Screw plug ................................................... 20 Nm
Handlebar clamp
(clean thread + apply Loctite 243) ................ 21 Nm
Fork bridge clamp ........................................ 21 Nm

Mount fork bridge (1) in retaining fixture,
BMW No. 31 5 670.

Note that high torque has to be applied to loosen
the ball joint fastener.

Release the ball joint fastener with the 46 mm
(1.8110 in) socket wrench insert,
BMW No. 31 5 630.

Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure. Pay particular attention to the following:
Coat the ball joint fastener with Optimoly TA and
secure it to the fork bridge with 46 mm (1.8110
in) socket wrench insert, BMW No. 31 5 630.

Ball joint to fork bridge ............................... 230 Nm
Tightening torque:
