Removing/installing exhaust

– Place motorcycle on its centre stand.
– Remove the engine spoiler (
– Remove the seat.
•
Release the cable tie for the oxygen sensor.
•
Disconnect the plug for the oxygen sensor.
•
Pull the oxygen sensor cable out downwards.
•
Unscrew the eight fasteners (arrow) for the ex-
haust system at the cylinder head.
•
Unscrew the retaining hoop (arrow) at the
silencer.
•
Extend side stand.
•
Lower the exhaust system to remove.
•

When installing, note correct cable routing and at-
tachment points for oxygen sensor.

Replace the O-rings at the cylinder head.

Fasteners
exhaust system to cylinder head .................. 22 Nm
Retaining hoop to silencer............................ 13 Nm
Retaining hoop to frame ............................... 24 Nm

Before installing, lightly oil the thread of the oxygen
sensor.
•

Oxygen sensor ............................................. 45 Nm
Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure. Pay particular attention to the following:

Tightening torque:
Removing/installing oxygen sensor
Unscrew the oxygen sensor at the
hexagon (arrow).
Note:
Coat the oxygen sensor with Optimoly TA and
tighten by means of hex head using socket,
BMW No. 11 7 020.
Tightening torque:
