Preliminary work - bleeding front wheel circuit

Place the motorcycle on its centre stand so that
it is level.
Remove the seat.
Remove the right rear side section (
Remove the fasteners securing the coolant ex-
pansion tank.

Attention:
During the filling process, the brake fluid level must
not drop below the hose level or else air will be
drawn into the brake system. Bleed the system
again if this happens.

Warning:
If the brake-fluid level in the reservoir does fall below
hose level (arrow), the wheel circuit must be refilled
at the brake caliper and bled once again (

Front wheel circuit only bleeding

Attention:
Integral brakes, the rear brake must be ready for
use.

Note:
The control circuit must be filled with brake fluid.

Remove the cap from the front wheel-circuit res-
ervoir (1).
Force back the brake pistons (
Fill the front wheel-circuit reservoir 1 with as
much brake fluid as it will take.
Screw cap, BMW No. 34 2 541,
onto front wheel circuit reservoir (1).

Connect silicon hose, BMW No. 34 1 560, to
a
bleed nipple of left brake caliper and to
cap, BMW No. 34 2 541.

Note:
If required, secure bleed hose with cable tie.

Note:
The bleed process runs via the pump in the pres-
sure modulator.
L
Note:
After switching on the ignition, always wait for the
BMW Integral ABS to complete its self-diagnosis.
Do not operate the brake lever until self-diagnosis
has completed.
If the brake pistons were forced back, the general
warning lamp lights up briefly the first time the igni-
tion is switched on and the brake lever is pressed.
Switch on the ignition.
