– Remove the engine spoiler and holder
( 46.14).

•
Secure lifter, BMW No. 00 1 510, to oil sump.
– Remove fuel tank ( 16.5).

– Drain the coolant until connecting hose (1) is
empty ( 00.67).

•
Loosen the fastener (arrow) at the left connecting
hose (1).
•
Pull connecting hose (1) off the radiator and set
it down at the right.

If necessary, detach steering damper (3) from
leading link (2).
•
Undo suspension strut pivot (arrow) at leading
link (2).
•
Unscrew fastener (arrow) for suspension strut on
frame.
•
Take off washer (5) and plastic washer (6).

Important:
Before removing the suspension strut, mask off its

thread with adhesive tape to protect it.
•
Unscrew brake line holder (4) from the frame.
e
Important:
Make sure that brake line and front sensor cable are
not stretched when telescopic fork extends.
If necessary, detach the brake pipe and sensor ca-
ble from the telescopic fork.

Note the extent of suspension travel.
•
Extend the telescopic fork.
