Use with Inmarsat M4 Terminals

The V100 multiplexer is often used in combination with Inmarsat M4 terminals, using the integral ISDN2
adaptor (Part number VI68711) to interface directly with the terminal. In the example below, the V100
units are equipped with 4 voice channels and the standard 2 data ports. The aggregate port is the ISDN
service, which is dialled whenever a voice call is active. The Inmarsat terminal is an M4 and calls are made
from mobile to fixed using the satellite:
Firstly, the Inmarsat terminals should be aligned with the strongest spot beam, using the standard
technique as published in the relevant equipment handbook. In order to support a 64Kbps ISDN call,
minimum signal strength of 550 is required on both terminals; this means the antenna must be positioned
with clear line-of-site to the satellite.
