ON = allows backup/fallback operation by enabling keep alive Signal Message response and timeout on
fail which requires full-duplex link bandwidth. Only use this feature if you need the backup facility with a
TDM link.
BACKUP TIMER
This defines the period for which a clock failure or carrier detect failure condition must persist on the
Primary Route before connections are re-routed to the backup link. It allows the unit to continue through
minor link errors and small periods of inactivity such as re-cabling or configuring without instantly
switching to the backup link.
FALLBACK MODE
Fallback Mode defines the behaviour adopted when attempting to return from the secondary link to the
primary link, after it has been restored following a failure. There are two selections; "Auto" and "Auto (No
BW)"
FALLBACK TIMER
This defines the period the primary link has to be active and stable, before the secondary will swap back
to the primary. It will restart if there is another loss of primary during this period. This prevents glitches or
an unstable carrier switching the unit. Note that the option to fallback immediately on a carrier return,
without qualifying the carrier for a period, is specified by setting the timer to 0. It is also possible to
prevent automatic fallback by setting the timer to "Never". Here the aggregate will stay on secondary
forever; it is possible to manually cause a fallback by subsequently entering "Reset" and saving the entry,
when the unit will fall back to Primary immediately and change the timer setting back to "Never" itself,
ready for next time.
These facilities also work in ReConfig mode, to switch Aggregates back to the Primary route.
