For most of the installation process, we will only use single path (first FC HBA port connected
to controller A). Only after the Linux RDAC is installed onto the logical drive will we define and
enable the second /IO path (second HBA port connected to controller B). This is to avoid
problems and conflicts which could occur if the logical drive was seen across both I/O paths
before having the Linux RDAC installed and operational.

21.2 First FC HBA port configuration

In this section, we will use the QLogic HBA BIOS utility (named Fast!UTIL) to note down the
WWNs of both HBA ports and to enable the BIOS on the first HBA port.
Note: In our configuration, we are using QLogic HBAs, however the Emulex Dual Port PCI
Express 4 Gbps FC HBA, IBM partnumber 42C2071 (LP110002) is also supported, as per
the IBM Support Web site. The BIOS utility procedures are similar to those described in
Chapter 19, "FC configuration 1 - Emulex HBA boot BladeServer from SAN" on page 441.
1. To enter Fast!UTIL, power the host server on and press <Ctrl-Q> when prompted. The
first step is HBA port selection. as shown in Figure 21-2.
Figure 21-2 Select the FC HBA port
2. Select the first HBA port and press <Enter>. The Fast!UTIL Options menu displays
(Figure 21-3). Select Configuration Settings and confirm with Enter.
