Solution
See "Menus display..." problem on
page
Do Step
9, "Test and Autocalibrate," on page
1-15
and/or Step
10, "Adjust Other Scanning
Parameters," on page
1-16.
Ensure trigger device is operating properly.
Do Read Rate Test <C>. If it reads success-
fully, the problem is triggering.
Ensure that correct serial trigger character is
entered with start/stop characters (a left angle
bracket < (unless redefined) and a right angle
bracket >).
Ensure the label is not excessively skewed,
tilted, or otherwise disoriented.
Ensure the bar code is in the scan line when it
is supposed to be.
Ensure that the bar code is pitched or skewed
slightly so as to avoid specular reflection.
Review triggering and timing.
(See
"Operations Menu," on page
2-12.)
Remedy by remounting, eliminating interfer-
ence, or shielding.
Many object detectors emit pulsed infrared
signals that can seriously degrade the read
rate if they shine into the scanner or onto the
bar code label when it is being read.
Clean or remove obstruction.
Scan a label that contains different data than
that of one being read.
Check communications protocol.
Enable LRC.
Check communications parameters (through
Aux port or by defaulting unit and resetting).
See Step
6, "Attach Cabling," on page 1-8
in particular,
"Ground and Shield Consider-
ations," on page A-9
for cabling information, or
if applicable, refer to multidrop manual.
