Menu Configuration
Note: Top Offset must always be less than the bottom offset or the resulting arc
will be 0°.
Bottom Offset in Degrees
Default:
0 (degrees)
Options: 0 to 45 (in one-degree increments)
Sweeps Per Second
Default:
14 (sweeps per second)
Options: 0 to 135
Allows you to control the raster motor speed. A "sweep" is defined as a sin-
gle pass, up or down, creating the raster image.
Table 2-2, "Raster Settings," on page 2-37
possible sweep speeds at selected raster arcs. The minimum speed at any
arc is always one sweep per second (SPS). Note that the maximum sweep
speed for the raster arc that you have chosen will not exceed the default,
even if you enter a higher speed.
To maximize the number of scans a label will receive, it is recommended
that as few as possible sweeps per second be selected. However, to ensure
that the minimum required scan lines cross the bar code label, it is essential
that at least two full sweeps occur during the time it takes for the label to
pass through the readable scan width area.
For example, if the label is readable in the read range for only 1/10th of a
second, then the number of sweeps per second should be at least 20. If
readable for only 1 second, then sweeps per second should be at least 2.
(To see a formula for calculating sweeps per second, see Step
Number of Scans," on page
Raster On/Off
Default:
Disabled
Options: Disabled, Enabled
Note: Laser On/Off must be enabled (KC1) for Raster On/Off to take effect.
When enabled, the raster will shut off (or turn on) approximately 1.9 ms
after a change in the state of the laser. Since this time delay may interfere
with certain applications—for example where a trigger has occurred and a
read is expected—you can disable Raster On/Off and the raster motor will
remain on at all times.
