Chapter 6 Installing Internal Options
How to identify a memory module
When installing memory modules, make sure that the two memory modules (DIMMs) in each set have
the same number beginning with "CA" (e.g. CA05946-E101) on their DIMM labels.
When an identification label is attached, make sure that the two memory modules (DIMMs) in each set
have the same capacity and that their identification labels are attached at the same position.

6.4.3 Memory Redundant Functions

A memory redundant function can be set in this server. Depending on an installation condition, memory
mirroring function or memory sparing function is available. The installation conditions and BIOS
settings are described below.

Memory mirroring function

By using memory mirroring function, a pair of memory board C and D becomes mirrored memory for a
pair of memory board A and B. Available memory capacity (logical capacity) is a half of the physical
capacity. The data written in the pair of memory board A and B is also written in the pair of memory
board C and D at the same time. Even when an uncorrectable memory error occurs in a memory module,
the OS continues the operation. However, the system will lose memory redundancy after an error since
the memory mirroring configuration is collapsed.
