2.2 Selecting an Installation Method

This section explains supported OS and installation modes when installing an OS by
using ServerStart.

2.2.1 Supported OS

The following operating systems can be installed by using ServerStart V6.711.

• Microsoft Windows Server

• Microsoft Windows Server

• Microsoft Windows Server

• Microsoft Windows Server
ServerStart does not support OS installation of Windows Server 2008 / Linux.
Any of unsupported OS can not be installed.
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 can be installed.

2.2.2 Installation Modes of ServerStart

Multiple methods are available to install an OS by using ServerStart. Refer to the following to decide
which mode to use for the installation.
Quick Installation mode
This mode completes OS installation by executing plain settings. Select this mode when you want to
install an OS quickly and simply. To install an OS while maintaining the established RAID
environment, select the Quick Installation mode.
Select "Logical Disk 0" in the [Select the Boot Controller and Boot Disk] window and install the OS.
Expert mode
In this mode, start up Disk Manager and format the partition where your OS is installed prior to
installation of the OS. Select the Expert mode only when installing the OS while maintaining the
existing partitions.
Also, when using ServerStart while maintaining the existing partitions, start up Disk Manager, format an
installation partition and install the OS.
