Chapter 8 Operation and Maintenance
Replacing hot-pluggable expansion cards
Before removing expansion cards from the server for replacement, you need to disconnect the expansion
cards on the OS. However, when you perform "Unplug or Eject Hardware", the expansion cards that are
installed in hot-pluggable slots may not appear. For this reason, you cannot replace the cards with the
server and peripheral devices turned on.
In this case, cancel the "Unplug or Eject Hardware", and use Device Manager to disable the expansion
cards you want to replace. And then, follow the procedure in "6.5.4 How to Replace Expansion Cards in
Hot-Pluggable PCI Slots" ( pg.141) to replace the cards.
When confirming the cards in Device Manager during the last step of the card replacement, make sure to
set the replaced expansion cards to "Enable". Unless the expansion cards are enabled, you cannot use the
cards on the OS.
