6.3.4 Defective CPU Disconnection Function

This server has a defective CPU disconnection function. This function disconnects a CPU judged to be
defective (abnormal) during Power On Self Test (POST) to start the server.
For example, when two CPUs are installed and one of them is defective, the server starts to operate with
the other available CPU.
The failed CPU can be checked with the information displayed during POST or from the [CPU Status]
submenu ( pg.173) (defective CPUs are indicated with "failed") in BIOS Setup Utility.
Replace the defective CPU, if discovered, and restart the server.
Replacing a defective CPU

Replace a defective CPU with a new CPU by following the procedure of "6.3.3
How to install CPUs" ( pg.122).

Start up BIOS Setup Utility.

From the [Server] menu, select the [CPU Status] submenu.

Set [Re-enable Failed CPUs] to "Yes".
