Handling a battery backup unit after removal
The battery is either nickel hydride or lithium ion. Nickel hydride batteries and lithium-ion batteries are
indicated as "Ni-MH" and "Li-ion" respectively. The battery is recyclable. At the end of its useful life,
under various states and local laws, it may be illegal to dispose of this battery into the municipal waste
stream. Check with your local solid waste officials for details for recycling options or proper disposal.
How to replace a battery backup unit

Turn off the server and the connected peripheral devices, and unplug the
cables.

Remove the top cover.
