6. Press the small right knob to remove the
flashng cursor.
NOTE: For duplex COM operations, the VLOC re-
ceiver may be auto-tuned from the nearest flight
service station page.
When selecting a VOR or ILS approach, manual
tuning of the VLOC receiver is not required. Once
the approach procedure is "Loaded" or "Acti-
vated", the GNS 430W will automatically place
the proper frequency in the standby field of the
VLOC window. If you wish to use this frequency,
simply press the VLOC flip-flop key to activate
the frequency. Additional information on approach
procedures is provided in Section 5.
To select an approach and automatically tune the
proper VLOC frequency:
1. Select the destnaton arport usng the direct-
to key or as the last waypont n the actve
flght plan.

3. Turn the large right knob to hghlght "Select
Approach?" and press ENT.
4. A wndow wll appear lstng the avalable pro-
cedures. Turn the small right knob to hghlght
the desred procedure and press ENT. (When
a drect-to destnaton s selected, departures
are offered for the nearest arport.)

5. A second wndow wll appear lstng avalable
transtons. Turn the small right knob to
hghlght the desred transton waypont and
press ENT. (The approach "Vectors" opton
assumes you wll receve vectors to the final
course segment of the approach and wll
provde navgaton gudance to ntercept ths
final course.)
6. Turn the large right knob to hghlght "Load?"
or "Actvate?" and press ENT. ("Load?" wll
add the procedure to the flght plan wthout
mmedately usng t for navgaton gudance.
Ths allows you to contnue navgatng the
orgnal flght plan, but keeps the procedure
avalable on the actve flght plan page for
quck actvaton when needed.)
7. For VOR and ILS approaches, the standby field
of the VLOC wndow s automatcally tuned to
the proper frequency. To actvate the frequency
press the VLOC flip-flop key. To dsplay VLOC
course nformaton on the external CDI (or HSI)
press CDI and verfy that "VLOC" s dsplayed
at the bottom left corner of the screen, drectly
above the CDI key.
