4 Installing Mass Storage Devices
Introduction
The LT 6000r is equipped with one hot-swap SCSI mass storage device cage that
holds four low-voltage differential, low profile SCSI devices. The NetServer is
also equipped with a built-in CD-ROM and a floppy diskette drive.
One SCSI channel, Channel A, supports the hot-swap cage. Another SCSI
channel, Channel B, supports external devices via a standard 68-pin wide SCSI
connector on the rear panel.
NOTE
CAUTION
Tools Required
No tools are required to remove and replace NetServer mass storage devices from
the hot-swap cage.
When connecting SCSI devices to the LT 6000r, devices
installed in the hot-swap cage are assigned SCSI IDs 00, 01,
02, and 03 from left to right. The embedded controller is
assigned ID 07. The SAF-TE processor on the hot-swap cage is
assigned ID 05.
Do not install high-voltage differential (HVD) SCSI devices
on the same SCSI channel as SE or LVD devices or the
devices will be damaged.
