A.3 The Meaning of S1 and S2 LEDs
The behavior of the S1 and S2 LEDs depends on the driver type of the optional serial card and the protocol con-
figured on the serial interface.
The following section summarizes LED behavior for all possible driver and protocol combinations.
A.3.1 RS-232 Driver
LED behavior is also influenced by the protocols configured for the RS-232 interface.
A.3.1.1 SCADA MODBUS
LED behavior in CENTER mode.

The serial interface has not been detected/installed, is configured as DOWN, or
the Control signal is inactive.
The serial interface is detected, the control signal is active, and the interface is
awaiting data from the Central site (serial). (Non-transparent mode).
The serial interface is detected, the control signal is active, and the interface is
awaiting data from the Central (serial) and/or Remote (IP) sites. (Transparent
mode)
Steady: Data has been received from the Central site and transmitted to the Re-
mote site (IP). (Non-transparent mode)
Flashing: Data is being transferred through the serial interface. (Transparent and
non-transparent modes).
The serial interface has not been detected/installed, is configured as DOWN, or
the Control signal is inactive.
The serial interface is detected, the control signal is active, and the interface is
awaiting data from the Central site (IP). (Non-transparent mode)
The serial interface is detected, the control signal is active, and the interface is
awaiting data from the Central (IP) and/or Remote (serial) sites. (Transparent
mode)
Steady: Data has been received from the Central site and transmitted to the Re-
mote site (serial). (Transparent mode)
Flashing: Data is being transferred through the serial interface. (Transparent and
non-transparent modes).
The serial interface has not been detected/installed, is configured as DOWN, or
the Control signal is inactive.
The serial interface is detected, the Control signal is active and:
Unbalanced mode: the interface awaiting data from the Central site (serial).
