Paper excessively curled after coming out of the printer?
You may be using paper that curls too easily.
Ensure the paper you are using meets the specifications described in
Appendix 3. Remove the paper stack, turn it over, reload in the cassette
and try again.
Printed text faded or streaked with white?
The toner inside the cartridge may be low or the toner is not evenly
distributed inside the cartridge.
Remove the cartridge, rock it gently 5 or 6 times and try to print again.
If this does not solve the problem, replace the toner cartridge (see page
110).
Even if this solves the problem, you should have a new toner cartridge
on hand to replace the old cartridge when it runs out of toner.
Unexpected letters and symbols printed on the page?
The operating mode setting may be incorrect.
Be sure the PERSONALITY item on the PARALLEL1 MENU or
PARALLEL2 MENU is set to AUTO or the correct personality (PCL or
PS) if the printer is dedicated to one personality.
-or-
The printer selection you made when you set up or installed your
software application was incorrect.
Different portions of the text garbled every time you print?
The interface cable is too long, and spurious noise is corrupting the data.
The maximum length for parallel cables is 3 meters. If your cable is
longer than this, replace it with a shorter cable.
-or-
The printer is plugged into an outlet shared with another electrical device
capable of generating noise, such as a photocopier, shredder or air
conditioner.
Plug the printer into a different outlet or consult a qualified technician to
install a noise filter.
