    Before setting up, commissioning and using the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine, please read this safety information and the reference guide carefully. The reference guide for the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine is available as a download from Francotyp-Postalia at any time.
  • Page 8 • If the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine has previously been in a cold environ- ment (i.e. below 10 °C / 50 °F): Unpack the PostBase Vision M2 and wait at least two hours before connecting and operating the PostBase Vision M2. The franking machine needs this time to adapt to the environmental conditions allowing any con- densed moisture to escape.

    Installation and commissioning Step 2: Assembling the PostBase Vision M2 Installation site The installation site for the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine must meet the following requirements: – Firm, level, low vibration and horizontal base, which offers sufficient space for the franking machine.

If the PostBase Vision M2 was previously in a cold environment (i.e. below 10 °C / 50 °F): Wait at least two hours after unpacking before connecting the franking machine. Turning the PostBase Vision M2 on / off The PostBase Vision M2 franking machine can remain connected to the network at all times and is therefore always quickly ready for operation.

    Disconnecting the PostBase Vision M2 from mains Caution! Make sure to always turn the PostBase Vision M2 off by keeping the ON/OFF button pressed before disconnect- ing the PostBase Vision M2 from mains. Never pull the power plug or separate the power supply in any other way before the print system has reached its sealed position.

    4.3.1 The touch screen The touch screen of the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine reacts to pressure (resistive display). With this type of touch screen, it does not matter whether you use your finger, fingernail, pen or gloves.

    PostBase Vision M2 Postage / Royal Mail product PostBase Vision M2 sets the postage, i.e. the price for the postal product using the chosen mailing data (destination, type, mail piece dimensions, and additional extra services if applicable), in conjunction with the displayed weight.

    Setting the franking imprint 5.1.3.2 Entering the weight manually PostBase Vision M2 allows you to manually enter the weight for certain products. If the weight can be entered manually, the ‘Weight Entry’ function is available in the Product Calculation menu. You need this function, for example, for mail pieces with a weight that exceeds the weight capacity of the integrated scale (2 kg).

The item counter counts all franking imprints. Independently of other counter functions, you can reset this item counter to zero or use it as a daily or job counter.

    11.2 Renaming a shortcut When a shortcut is saved, PostBase Vision M2 automatically creates a name. This name is generated from the selected mailing data and may in some cases not fit on the button. You can easily change the names of the shortcuts.

    Due to postal requirements, the data must be synchronised with Francotyp-Postalia at regular intervals to operate the PostBase Vision M2 franking machine. PostBase Vision M2 automatically synchronises all important data as long as the machine is not fully turned off and the connection (LAN or Wi-Fi) is available.

    Advanced settings & system information 15.5 Sound signals PostBase Vision M2 confirms certain actions with a beep. A series of sound signals indicates an error. You can limit the scope of the sound signals to certain events (messages, errors) or turn them off entirely.

    The PostBase Vision M2 franking machine can be turned off automatically if you do not use PostBase Vision M2 for a while. The ‘AutoOff Time’ is the length of time between the last operation and when the machine turns off automatically.
