Section 4 – Calibration
The Model 5265MGSA requires periodic calibration of the load cell used to measure the
torque on the paddle that is immersed in the cement sample. A calibration fixture and
traceable mass are provided to create known torques on the motor carriage and a 2-point
calibration is performed.
Paddle motion is provided by a stepper motor, calibration is not required. A test procedure
may be used to verify the speed of the stepper motor at speeds ranging from 0.20 – 5.0
degrees/min (5265MX-0122). At higher rotational speeds, a conventional tachometer may
be used.
Use procedure 5265MX-0009 to calibrate the 5265MG. This document and associated
worksheet 5265MX-0009W are used to establish the measurement range and load cell
linearity. The 5265MX-0009 may be found in the appendix of this manual.
Calibration of the following Inputs and Outputs should be set to the values listed below. Use
the Manual Entry button on the appropriate Calibration dialog.
• "Motor Speed" Input Signal Calibration should be:
i. Slope: 0.1
ii. Offset: 0
• "Motor Speed – Conditioning" Input Signal Calibration should be:
i. Slope: 0.000277778
ii. Offset: 0
• "Motor Speed" Analog Output Calibration should be:
i. Slope: 3600
ii. Offset: 0
• "Motor Temperature" Raw units should be °C; Calibration should be:
i. Calibrated Units of °C: Slope: 0.1; Offset: 0
ii. Calibrated Units of °F: Slope: 0.18; Offset: 32
• "Temperature" and "Wall Temperature" Input Signals
i. Raw and Calibrated units should match the units used by the Controller.
ii. The Calibration for these signals should be the default (Slope: 1; Offset: 0). These
signals are calibrated at the controller.
