Starting a Test

1. Using water and detergent, clean the pressure vessel, top plug and magnetic drive
housing, bottom plug.
2. Insert the tapered sample sleeve into the vessel. This sleeve reduces the effort
required to remove a sample at the end of a test.
3. Remove the plug at the end of the magnetic drive to allow air to escape during
assembly.
4. Fill the vessel with the cement slurry using the fill gauge as a volume guide. The
volume is intended to force the slurry into the baffles within the plug when the top
plug is screwed into place. Do not overfill the vessel.
5. Verify that the seals on the top plug are present.
6. Screw the top plug assembly into place.
7. Remove the vessel assembly from the bench vise; slide the assembly into the heating
jacket.
8. Apply grease to the thermocouple sheath. This action reduces the effort in removing
the thermocouple after a test.
9. Ensure that the cone and thread seal collars are adjusted, providing visibility of 1-2
threads past the conical seal.
10. Install the thermocouple into the top plug assembly. Tighten with a 5/8-inch wrench.
11. Connect the thermocouple to the receptacle at the rear of the instrument.
12. Remove the top plug from the magnetic drive.
13. Using a small syringe or squeeze bottle, inject water into the top of the magnetic drive
housing until water is discharged from the J-tube port. This ensures that the bearings
are not contaminated with cement and prefills the magnetic drive housing.
14. Install the J-tube and filter between the vessel top plug and top panel port.
15. Install and tighten the plug at the end of the magnetic drive.
16. Close the pressure release valve.
17. Apply pressure using an external pressure source (Quizix pump).
18. Check for leaks.
19. Mount the motor assembly on the top plug assembly; verify that the housing is fully
engaged with the top plug and the motor and load cell cables do not interfere with
measurement of the motor reaction torque. The cables must not create a torsional
load.
20. Verify that the power and communication cables are connected to the motor.
NOT connect or disconnect these cables when the 5265MG interface is turned ON.
Doing so may damage the motor.
21. Verify that the Instrument is turned ON.
22. Verify that the appropriate PID tuning values are active. See
depending on Instrument
23. Start the 5270 software.
24. Select the 5265MG instrument that is configured per
Configuration.
25. Select the desired Test Profile and / or Controller Schedule.
Click the "Start Test" button.
