4. Purge Unit Does Not Operate

Is rotation of the purge motor
being transmitted to the cap
cam via the gear?
Check for damaged gears or
defective installation.
Purge motor (M3)
Is problem solved by replacing
purge motor (M3)?

Cap cam home
position sensor
(PS5)
Set the tester range to 12 VDC,
and connect the tester probes to
relay connector J5-5 (+)
(VACSEL) and J5-4 (-) .
Does the voltage change from
OV to 5V when tuming the drive
gear on the purge unit?
Check wiring. If normal, replace
sensor.
Pressure cam
home position
sensor (PS4)
Set the tester range to 12 VDC,
and connect the tester probes to
relay connector J5-3 (+)
(VCAMHP) and J5-2 (-) on the
engine controller PCB.
Does the voltage change from
OV to 5V when turning the drive
gear on the purge unit?
Check wiring. If normal, replace
sensor.
