3. Carriage Does Not Move
Cause/Faulty Location
Check Item
Remedy
Carriage drive belt
Is the carriage drive belt prop-
erly attached?
Attach properly.
Dust cover switch
(SW2)
Turn the power switch OFF, and
disconnect connector J26.
Connect the tester probes to
switch side terminal.
Do the resistances change from
OQ to -f when the dust cover is
closed of opened?
Check wiring. If normal, replace
switch.
Carriage home
position sensor
(PS3)
Set the tester range to 12 VDC,
and connect the tester probes
to J207-A8 (+) (CRGHP) and
J207-A7 (-) on the engine
controller PCB. Is the voltage 5
V when the carriage is at its
home position?
Check wiring. If normal, replace
sensor.
Feeder open/close
sensor (PS9}
Set the tester range to 12 VDC,
and connect the tester probes
to J204-4 (+) (PRSSEN) and
J204-3 (-) on the engine control-
ler PCB. Does the voltage
change from 0 V to 5 V when
the feeder unit is released?
Check wiring. If normal, replace
sensor.
Y-axis motor(M2)
Is the problem solved by replac-
ing the Y-axis motor?

Motor controller
PCB
Is the problem solved by replac-
ing the motor controller PCB?
END
Linear encoder
Is the problem solved by replac-
ing the linear encoder?
END
Long flexible cable
Disconnect J206 from the the
engine controller PCB and J405
from the carriage PCB. Is there
electrical continuity across the
long flexible cable terminals
shown in the following table?

Replace long flexible cable.
