5. Compensation of the Margins
Carry out this adjustment after the engine con-
troller PCB has been replaced.
This adjustment compensates three margins:
leading edge margin, left margin and trailing edge
margin.
Adjusting the leading edge margin compen-
sates for unevenness of the media discharge sen-
sor installation position. Adjusting the left margin
compensates for unevenness of the distance be-
tween the cartridge and media sensor. Adjusting
the trailing edge margin compensates for uneven-
ness of the Y cutter installation position.
CAUTION
The left margin is the margin on the left of
the image, and is the margin on the right
(carriage side) of the machine.
1) Set the printer to the service mode, and select
"Margin Adjust."
(Refer to page 5-43 about Service Mode
descrivibing below)

2) Select "Yes" and press the down arrow key.

Insert A3/11"x17" size or larger size cut sheet
media into the printer.
* The printer outputs the margin adjustment
pattern, and cuts the media.
¢ The screen for selecting the leading edge
margin is displayed.

Measures the lengths of the leading edge, left
and trailing edge margins from the output.

5) Press the left or right key to select the length of
the measured leading edge margin.
Reference
The variable width is 0.1 mm/0.01°.

¢ The printer determines the compensation
value from the selected margin lengths.
