mm CHAPTER 2 OPERATION
2. Roll Media Feed
About 1.5 seconds after roll media is inserted in the media inlet and the roll media detection sensor (PS2}
turns ON, the X-axis motor rotates to start to feed the roll media.
The leading edge of the roll media is stopped at a position about 300 mm past media discharge sensor
(PS6), and the "skew correction message" is displayed on the message display.
After the user corrects skew and closes the dust cover, the roll media is retracted and its leading edge
is returned to the platen. Media width and skew are then detected by the media sensors on the carriage. The
leading edge of the roll media is then trimmed and cut, and stopped at the print standby position. The printer
then stands by for transfer of data from the computer.
During feeding of roll media, media feed error is detected by the sensors along the media feed path.
Reference
The purpose of skew correction is to ensure that media js fed straight even if the leading edge of the roll
media is not cut at a right angle.
