1. Adjustment of the Media Retainer
Hook Position
Carry out this adjustment after the engine con-
troller PCB has been replaced.
Adjusting the position of the media retainer
hook adjusts the position where the carriage stops
when the media retainer is hooked.
1) Set the printer to the service mode, and select
"Mdia Guide Adjst."
(Refer to page 5-43 about Service Mode
descrivibing below)

Select "Yes" and press the down arrow key.

Remove the left cover, and set the cover switch

5) Move the carriage by hand to the media re-
tainer position.

6) With the plunger on the media retainer solenoid
pressed in, gently move the carriage until it
lightly contacts the media retainer.

Remove hand from the plunger and lower the
media retainer.
8) Press the down arrow key.
* The solenoid turns ON and carriage moves
slightly. Make sure that the media retainer is
hooked by the carriage.

Install the left cover.
2. Adjustment of the Media Sensor
Gain
This adjustment adjusts the lamp intensity and
the sensitivity of the media sensor at auto head
adjustment. Carry out this adjustment after the
engine controller PCB or the following parts have
been replaced:
* Carriage PCB
* DC power supply PCB
* Media sensor
This adjustment must also be carried out after
the carriage or platen has been removed.
CAUTION
Clean the media sensor before adjusting
this adjustment.
During this adjustment, do not touch the
media sensor with your hands.
1) Remove all cartridges.
2) Set the cartridge height adjustment lever to the
right position (QO).
