G.1.4 RAID 5
RAID 5 uses distributed parity blocks on different drives to enable the system to rebuild
lost data if one of the disks crashes. The parity block is a binary representation of that data
stored on the equivalent sectors of the other disks in the array. If one of the disks crashes
then the disk can be rebuilt using binary techniques.
G.1.5 JBOD
JBOD is not technically a raid level but joins multiple drives into a single logical drive. Two
or more drives are strung together and appear to the system as a single drive rather than
as multiple drives.
