Troubleshooting
If the torque converter is not operating properly, perform the following steps:
1.
Check the governor and throttle settings. See Engine Control Linkages.
2.
Inspect the driven clutch for dirt and dust buildup on its component parts. Clean the driven clutch with water to
remove any dust or dirt, then drive the vehicle and check for proper operation.
3.
If cleaning the driven clutch does not solve the problem, disassemble and thoroughly clean all parts of the drive
clutch. Be sure to clean the plastic drive buttons (7) (Figure 23-2, Page 23-4).
