SAFETY
WARNING
• Use insulated tools when working near batteries or electrical connections. Use extreme caution to
avoid shorting of components or wiring.
Electric vehicles only:
• Place Run/Tow switch in the TOW position before disconnecting or connecting the batteries. Failure to
heed this warning could result in a battery explosion or severe personal injury.
• To avoid unintentionally starting an electric vehicle, disconnect the batteries and discharge the
controller. See Disconnect the Batteries – Electric Vehicles on page 1-4.
Gasoline vehicles only:
• To avoid unintentionally starting a gasoline vehicle, disconnect the battery and spark plug wire.
See Disconnect the Battery - Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-3.
• Frame ground – Do not allow tools or other metal objects to contact frame when disconnecting battery
cables or other electrical wiring. Do not allow a positive wire to touch the vehicle frame, engine, or
any other metal component.
DISABLING THE VEHICLE
1.
Park the vehicle on a solid level surface.
2.
Engage the park brake to prevent vehicle movement.
3.
Turn the key to OFF.
4.
Remove the key.
5.
Set the Forward/Neutral/Reverse control (FNR) to N.
6.
Put chocks against the wheels.
DISCONNECT THE BATTERY - GASOLINE VEHICLES
1.
Disable the vehicle.
2.
Disconnect the negative (-) cable (1) (Figure 1-1, Page 1-3).
3.
Disconnect the positive (+) cable (2).
