Use your fingers to insert the four screws that secure the cover to the baseplate. Tighten
the screws with the 7/64-inch ball driver or hex key.

16. Lower the sampling arm so it engages firmly with the magnet.
17. Set the instrument upright.
18. Attach the power cord and the USB cable to the instrument.
WARNING To ensure a good ground connection and avoid shock hazard, do not use an
outlet that is connected to a conduit ground. The ground must be a noncurrent-carrying
wire connected to earth ground at the main distribution box.
19. Plug the power cord into the same wall outlet or power strip.
20. Turn on the instrument power switch.
Wait 2 minutes for the instrument power indicator to stop flashing.
Note If the power indicator does not stop flashing after 2 minutes or other problems
occur, consult the
troubleshooting
21. Run the instrument performance tests.
Make sure the system has been on for at least 15 minutes (one to six hours for best results)
and then run both
