Regenerating the Desiccant
The instrument's desiccant canisters can be regenerated by drying them in an oven.
Note
• If you plan to regenerate the desiccant canisters, you will need a second set to place in
the instrument while the first set is being dried.
• If the desiccant canisters are old or damaged,
• If the humidity indicator is no longer blue, the indicator must be replaced. A
replacement indicator is included in the desiccant replacement kit.
Time needed: 3 hours
Tools needed:
• Vented oven
• Insulated cloth or hot pad
NOTICE Make sure the insulated cloth or hot pad you use to handle the regenerated
desiccant canisters is clean. Contaminants in a used cloth or hot pad could be absorbed by
the desiccant and subsequently released into the instrument.
To regenerate the desiccant
NOTICE Do not leave canisters in the oven for more than three hours and do not exceed
a temperature of 150 °C (300 °F). Allow the canisters to cool completely in a dry
environment before you install them in the instrument.
1. Place the saturated desiccant canisters in a vented oven at 150 °C (about 300 °F) for three
hours.
