Troubleshooting the Instrument
Performance test failed

Nicolet iS5 LS User Guide
If an instrument performance test fails, follow these steps:
1. Thoroughly
clean the sample windows
2. If the performance test fails again, take the following action depending upon which test
failed:
• If the single beam or 100% T test fails, complete the following in this order and then
repeat the performance test:
–
calibrate the laser frequency
–
align the instrument optics
–
calibrate the sample stage
• If the wavelength accuracy hexadecane test fails, complete the following in this order
and then repeat the performance test:
–
Rerun the
Calibration Check
new (unopened) source container to make sure the hexadecane is not
contaminated.
–
calibrate the laser frequency
–
calibrate the sample stage
• If the pathlength hexadecane test fails, run the

• Run the Full (stage) Calibration only if the Quick (stage) Calibration fails.
