If the patient is sitting or lying for a longer period, the orthosis should be removed. When the Back
Plate (A) slips upwards while the orthosis is being worn, the patient should pull it downwards to
its proper place.
The patient should be instructed to consult the physician immediately when he/she notices any
unusual changes.

11 Care Instructions

When delivering the orthosis, instruct the patient also that only the textile components of the or-
thosis are washable (after removal of the Back Plate), not the Back Plate itself.
Wash the textile components at 30 °C (86 °F) with a mild detergent. The hook & loop closures
and Plastic Buckle (G) must be closed while washing the orthosis. The velcroed Back Pad (B),
Waist Strap (D) and Shoulder Straps (C) must be detached from the Back Plate (A). We recom-
mend using a washing bag for washing the textiles. Do not expose to the sun. Do not use oven or
radiator heat for drying. Air-dry. Do not dry clean or iron textile components.
The Back Plate (A) can be cleaned on the coated side with a damp cloth. After drying, velcro the
Back Pad (B) to the Back Plate (A) again and attach the Shoulder Strap (C) and Waist Strap (D)
to the Back Plate following the numbered sequence (1 – 8).

12 Restrictions of Use

contact with intact skin only.
Attention!
Parts that must be shaped to the physical contours of a patient as well as parts that
come into direct contact with the skin may represent functional or hygienic risks when
used by another person.
Functional risks are for example:
• Formation of cracks in the material (may be invisible to the eye if the paint is undamaged)
• Material fatigue due to alternating shock loading
• Reduced elongation (strain hardening) after the components have been cold-formed several
times.
The application period or wearing time of the orthosis depends on medical indication.
