(B) Back Pad
(C) Shoulder Strap
(D) Waist Strap
(E) Abdominal Support
(F) Velcro Pads
4.2 Design (Fig. 1– 3)
The 50R20 Dorso Osteo Care is supplied ready for trial fitting. The Back Plate (A) consists of
coated aluminum and can be easily adjusted. The Back Pad (B) with hook & loop attachment is
made of the SpaceTex® spacer fabric, which is breathable, gentle to the skin and washable. The
Shoulder Strap (C) is connected to the Back Plate (A) with plastic loops (1 – 4) and consists of a
fleece strap with inserts padded with semi-elastic SpaceTex® spacer fabric in the axillary area.
The Shoulder Strap (C) is provided with a safe and simple Plastic Buckle (G), which is located at
the front. The Abdominal Support (E) is made of SpaceTex® spacer fabric and is connected to
the Back Plate (A) via the Waist Strap (E) with plastic loops (5 – 8).
5 Adjusting the Orthosis
The initial fitting and application of the 50R20 Dorso Osteo Care spinal orthosis must be carried
out by trained and qualified personnel. The Back Plate (A) can be cold-shaped by hand without use
of any tools (Fig. 7). To do this, detach the velcroed Back Pad (B), Waist Strap (D) and Shoulder
Strap (C) from the Back Plate (A). Adapt the Back Plate (A) exactly to the course of spinal column
while observing the specified measuring points (C7 / gluteal fold). Cavities should be avoided, as
should any pad pressure. Subsequently, velcro the Back Pad (B) and attach the Shoulder Strap
(C) following the numbered sequence (1 – 4), the Waist Strap (D) with plastic loops (5 – 8).
6 Applying and Trial Fitting
The orthosis is pulled on following the rucksack principle (Fig. 4). First, open the Plastic Buckle
(G) of the Shoulder Strap (C) and the hook & loop closure on one side of the Abdominal Support
(right or left, whichever you choose). Pull on the orthosis like a rucksack and position the Back
Plate (A) with the Back Pad (B) so that it fits the back. Position the Abdominal Support (E) in the
center of the abdomen and close the hook & loop closure (Fig. 5). Then close the Plastic Buckle
(G) below the breast (Fig. 6). Adjust the Shoulder Strap (C) and Waist Strap (D) to the proper
length using the Velcro Pads. The Shoulder Strap (C) can be additionaly trimmed in length. To
do so, remove the Plastic Buckle (G) (Fig. 8), cut the Shoulder Strap uniformly on both sides and
subsequently re-attach the Plastic Buckle with hook & loop closures. The Plastic Buckle (G) must
always be located in the center of the body.
To ensure easier application of the orthosis in patients with limited motility, the enclosed Trunk
Buckles (K) can be mounted. To do so, loosen the plastic loops (3 + 4) of the Shoulder Strap (C)
from the Back Plate.
Screw the Trunk Buckles (K) to the Back Plate (A) following the numbered sequence (3 + 4) (Fig. 9)
and glue the enclosed Pads (L) to the Trunk Buckles and cold-shape them by hand to optimally fit
the trunk. Hook the plastic loops (3 + 4) of the Shoulder Strap (C) to the Trunk Buckles (Fig. 10).
