Hard Drive Backup and Recovery
The following procedure is used to back up or restore the operating system
on an Agilent Technologies instrument/system running on a MS Windows
platform.
MS Windows based instruments must have a keyboard attached prior to
starting this procedure.
1 Restart the instrument/system controller. The Agilent ODA offers three boot up
options:
• 1. Agilent Technologies 86038A
• 2. Operating System Recovery Console
• 3. Backup and Recovery Options.
2 Quickly select option 3. (The first option is the default, and will be automatically
selected within a few seconds.)
3 When the Agilent Technologies System Utilities Screen appears, select from the
following options.
1. Recover Factory's Backup Image
This process restores your system to the original, factory-installed
operating system and system software. A recovery should be done if MS
Windows is corrupted or if you have been instructed to do so by an Agilent
service engineer.
2. Create User Backup Image
This process creates a backup image of your system. This process should
be done if you have modified the network parameters and/or drivers.
3. Recover User Backup Image
This process restores your system to the user-created backup-image. A
recovery should be done if MS Windows is corrupted or if you have been
instructed to do so by an Agilent service engineer.
4. Exit
Exits the utility.
4 Enter the number associated with the desired action. For example, enter 2 if you
want to create a user backup image of your system.
5 The procedure will begin. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the
process. The procedure will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to complete.
6 When the process is finished, restart the instrument/system controller.
