The BiPAP Focus electronic system controls, monitors, and displays patient
and ventilator data. Two microcontrollers (on the user interface and controller
PCBs) interpret user and sensor inputs while controlling inspiratory and
expiratory pressures according to the selected ventilator settings. Figure 3-2
shows an interconnect block diagram of the BiPAP Focus ventilator.

Communication between the microcontrollers allows each to check the
function of the other, ensures proper transition between AC and DC power
sources, and allows internal battery maintenance.
