Supplying Unit Power and I/O Power
This section describes the Unit power supply and I/O power supply to the IO-Link Master Units.
2-3-1
Unit Power Supply and I/O Power Supply Methods
The Unit power supply and I/O power supply methods depend on the type of IO-Link Master Unit as
described below.
NX-type IO-Link Master Unit
The Unit power supply and I/O power supply methods depend on the connection position of the IO-
Link Master Unit as described below.
• When the IO-Link Master Unit is connected to a CPU Unit:
The Unit power supply is provided from the CPU Unit or an Additional NX Unit Power Supply Unit.
The I/O power supply is provided from an Additional I/O Power Supply Unit.
• When the IO-Link Master Unit is connected to a Communications Coupler Unit:
The Unit power supply is provided from the Communications Coupler Unit or an Additional NX Unit
Power Supply Unit.
The I/O power supply is provided from the Communications Coupler Unit or an Additional I/O Power
Supply Unit.
The I/O power supply is branched in the IO-Link Master Unit and supplied to the connected devices
from the ports.
Example: IO-Link Master Unit Connected to an EtherCAT Coupler Unit

(e.g., 24 VDC)
Note Even if the Unit power supply is not supplied, if you supply the I/O power supply, the I/O power supply is
supplied to the connected devices from the ports.
Refer to the user's manual for the connected CPU Unit or Communications Coupler Unit for details on Unit
power supply and I/O power supply methods.
