2 Set up the IP address and subnet mask of the MSH hub, using a VT100
terminal locally, through the management screens (described in
Chapter
There is no setting to be done if you are going to use IPX addressing.
3 Set up the SNMP trap destination address of the Network Manager. This
enables the MSH hub to send traps successfully to the Network
Manager. If more than one Network Manager is to have access to the
MSH hub, you must set up a trap destination address for each.
4 Commence the session from the management station.

If You Change an MSH Module

All modules, except the management module, have backplane bus
selection links. These should be set before the module is installed (see
the appropriate module user guide). If the module is removed from the
chassis, and replaced by a module of same service type the
management module will recognize the module and use the
backplane bus setting it has stored in NVRAM.
If the module is of a different service type, the management module
will act on the link setting.
When you install a module into an apparently unused slot, you may not
be sure whether there has been a previous occupant. You should check
the backplane bus attachment using the Display Panel, VT100 interface
or your network manager. You may find that your new module is
attached to a backplane bus different from that the link settings
indicate. If so, the management module has recognized the new
module as of the same service type as the previous occupier, and has
imposed the stored software settings.
Hardware links, other than backplane bus links, behave differently.
If you remove a module to change the link positions and replace it in
the same slot, the management module recognizes the module and
imposes the software settings.
