The three Ethernet ports are managed only by the LinkSwitch
management facility, but the Facility Table in the VT100 screens will
display the connections.
The FDDI port may be attached internally to the FDDI backplane or
switched to connect to external device using the management module
(see
"Facility Table"
connected externally through FDDI MIC media modules inserted in the
LinkSwitch 1200 FDDI module.
One of two possible conditions apply if the device is connected
internally to a backplane.
If the LinkSwitch module is in the next highest slot to an FDDI
RingBuilder module, internal connection is logically associated with
the ring created by the FDDI RingBuilder module.
If the LinkSwitch module is not in the correct slot, the internal
connection will be considered as isolated.
If the FDDI Port connection has been made 'external' , the connection
number will be '0' . This cannot be altered.
If you want to change the port from 'internal' to 'external' , select the
connection number and the 'Switch to...' toggle field will be available.
Use the SWITCH button to complete the changeover.
The LinkSwitch 1200 6 port UTP Expansion module (3C18641) is
managed by the attached LinkSwitch 1200 FDDI module, the two units
effectively being one switch.
